Before & After

Project Details

The Mountain Home project is nestled into the Wasatch Mountain range with some great scenery around it. Horizon was able to do in-house design and construction for this project, which allowed the owner to add custom touches they had been planning on. This 4,600 square foot home includes an open floor plan perfect for entertaining, ample storage areas, and plenty of garage space perfect for any car or woodworking enthusiast.

The open floor plan allows for entertaining, while still keeping a warm, cozy feel and designated spaces for various activities. We worked to find the perfect options for large windows that would allow lots of natural light and mountain air in, but also maintain great energy efficiency during those cold winter months. Horizon was able to provide several selection options for various finishes including cabinets, railing, flooring, countertops, tile, and many, many others to find the perfect balance between what the client wanted aesthetically and keeping within budget. We were even able to find a beam from a 110 year old barn in Utah that we repurposed and used for the fireplace mantle.

The site had many unique challenges that we were able to overcome and deliver an exceptional project for the client. The client wanted to keep as much of the existing landscape and as many of the existing trees in tact as possible and we were able to make that happen, including working around 100 year old trees near the home. There was only a 7 month window to complete this project due to this being a high snow area. This involved extensive up-front planning and coordination in the off-season to make sure permits, materials, and all the components were ready to go. We delivered on time and the client was able to move in before the snow started flying.
